ARTIST STATEMENT
These drawings are some of my fumblings with honesty, with silence breaking. They are made to manifest turbulent memory and emotional turmoil, outside of the realm of secrets.

Ms. Michaud is haunted by memories of repeat childhood sexual assault. There was other abuse, too, by family and others. The only God in her life required forgiveness, submission, and silence, and now modern ‘wellness’ dictates the same; be silent to be good, agreeable, healthy, positive, enlightened. She is done being silent.
